Limerick The new track is 70 metres wide, licensed for up to 30 horses and has been designed as a fast galloping track with cambered bends and a stiff uphill climb on the back straight, rising 20 metres in three furlongs. Just over a mile and two furlongs in length, the steeplechase course will take place on the outside with a proposed eight fences, with the flat and hurdle courses inside. The track rides right handed and the elevated position of Hugh McMahon Stand provides a clear view of the whole oval shaped course. Irrigation is provided by a man-made lake in the centre of Greenmount, holding 6 million cubic inches of water, specially linked into the main drainage system to ensure the highest quality racing surface. |
