| Places of Interest Other local attractions include the Passage Tomb of Newgrange (only 10 miles from the racecourse). Older than the Pyramids of Egypt, the tomb is over 5,000 years old and is one of the most famous megalithic monuments in Western Europe. Nestled in the Meath Valley is of course the River Boyne, which lends itself to many scenic walks and fishing opportunities. The famous Battle of the Boyne took place in 1690, and its site is now a popular tourist attraction. |
